Change is constant, but do we:

• keep our gaze in the present, to slowly build upon our strongly held beliefs?
• plod along and hope that the coming change will accept our habits, beliefs, our systems and thinking and reward us, our economy and our communities?
• accept that our people and institutions are prepared ... with fingers crossed?

Inside, we know we have not engaged the process of accepting this change, we hope luck will be on our side. We do know, that there is more substantial self-evaluation and exploration involved to be our best. We must give form to this force of change, to give it shape, to learn about it before it arrives, not just to survive it, but to use it. To be excellent.

As a design professional, it is my duty to partner with my clients and look at what is ahead, to thoughtfully bring shape to what is moving at them, and to use intelligence and ideas as key tools for economic and social development.

Change is coming. Let us embrace it with open arms, not crossed fingers.
